Robotic spleen preserving distal pancreatectomy: Four cases report from a single surgeon

Background Spleen preservation (SP) is beneficial for patients undergoing distal pancreatectomy of benign and borderline tumors; however, the conventional laparoscopy approach is less effective in preserving splenic vessel.This study aimed to evaluate whether a robotic approach could facilitate spleen preservation.Method Four patients undergoing robotic assisted distal pancreatectomy between April 2015 and June 2015were included.Main outcome measures included operative time, blood loss, transfusion frequency, morbidity,postoperative hospital stay, and oncologic safety.
