Research about Reduction of Out-of-Field Region Dose during Radiation Therapy
Purpose: Photon beam radiotherapy with linear accelerator unavoidably exposes normal tissue or organs to stray radiation from the treatment unit and indoor, which provides no known benefit and may increase the risk of induce a secondary cancer.In order to reduce the stray radiation to outside treatment volume region and the risk of developing a radiogenic cancer, a set of body shielding device (BSD) for stray radiation of external x-ray radiotherapy has developed by our group, and this work is to test the shielding effect of it.
