Calculation of Drag Force on an Immersed Cylinder in Bingham Fluids Using a MRT-LB Model
Fresh cement mortar is workable paste in hydraulic engineering.It is usually considered approximately Bingham plastics and the flow behaviors are major concerns in the construction practices.In this paper, the Papanastasiou”s model for Bingham fluids was solved by the multiple-relaxation-time lattice Boltzmann model (MRT-LB).Then the Bingham fluid flows through a channel with a round particle was studied.Beside the rich flow structures obtained in this work, the dynamics fluid force on the round particle was calculated and it was found that both the Reynolds number Re and the Bingham number Bn affect the value of drag coefficient CD.The relations between the drag CD with Re and Bn were proposed finally.Such results would be of great importance in applications of fresh cement mortar in engineering practices.
