The Application of Task-based Teaching Mode in English Teaching

  Task-based approach is put forward in 1980s and developed gradually, and now it is widely recognized and accepted by the applied linguists and foreign language teaching practitioner. Besides, it’s also recommended and advocated by the English curriculum standard that formulated by the Ministry of Education. Task-based approach centers on the task, during the completion of the process, with the way of participation, experience, interaction, communication and cooperation. It’s to give full play to their cognitive skills and to mobilize their purpose language resources. In practice, it’s to perceive, recognize and apply the purpose language. It is a new teaching method that complies with the trend of English teaching development, emphasizing the students’ innovation ability and application ability. In current English teaching to actively develop task-based approach is significant to realize the English teaching reform and improve students English application ability. This article explains the meaning of task-based approach, the features, the learning and teaching principles as well as the practice and reflection of task-based teaching in English teaching.
