Long-term outcomes after percutaneous coronary intervention in patients with atrial fibrillation

Background There are few data for the clinical application of anticoagulation and the long-term outcome of patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) undergoing percutaneous coronary artery stenting in China.Methods We reviewed 640 patients (74.9％ men, mean age (66.5±9.0) years) with paroxysmal (83.3％) or persistent(16.7％) AF undergoing percutaneous coronary artery stenting between January 2007 and July 2011 (inclusive).We recorded clinical and demographic characteristics of the patients, and antithrombotic therapy at discharge.Clinical follow-up was performed, and all stroke, bleeding episodes and major adverse cardiac events (MACE) defined as the composite of cardiac death, myocardial infarction (MI), or target vessel revascularization (TVR) were recorded.
