Txioredoxin-intracting protein mediates impairment of ischemia-induced angiogenesis in diabetic myocardium through regulation of WNT/β-CATENIN signaling
Background Diabetes-induced impairment of collateral formation in ischemic myocardium has been demonstrated both in experimental and clinical studies, which may contribute to unfavorable prognosis among diabetic individuals. However, the underlying mechanism remains to be defined.Since Thioredoxin-interacting protein (TXNIP), an endogenous inhibitor of antioxidant thioredoxin, plays a crucial role in diabetes and its vascular complications, in present study we aim to determine whether TXNIP exerts a causative effect on impairment of myocardial ischemia-induced angiogenesis under diabetic condition, and to identify the downstream target molecule through in vivo and in vitro experiments.
