Primary aldosteronism was treated by superselective adrenal arterial embolization: a preliminary study
Background This study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of superselecive adrenal arterial embolization (SAAE)with absolute ethanol for treatment of primary aldosteronism (PA).Methods From March 2010 to July 2011, 10 patients consisted of 7 with unilateral aldosteronoma, 2 with bilateral adrenal hyperplasia, 1 with unilateral adrenal hyperplasia, were treated with SAAE.Blood pressure, use of antihypertensive medications, plasma rennin activity, aldosterone, serum potassium and adverse events after SAAE were evaluated.
