Comparison of accuracy in assessment of coronary artery stenosis and plaque burden between quantitative coronary angiography and intravascular ultrasound
Background The aim of the study was to compare the result of intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) and quantitative coronary angiography (QCA) in assessing coronary artery stenosis and plaque burden. Methods 21 arteries of 20 patients who underwent QCA and 1VUS were analyzed.QCA data was analyzed with QAngio XA 7.2 (Medis Inc, Leiden, The Netherlands).IVUS data was analyzed with EchoPlaque 4 (INDEC Systems Inc, California, USA).According to the diameter stenosis rate (DSR) obtained from QCA, lesions were classified into 3groups: mild lesion (<50%), intermediate lesion (50%-70%), severe lesion (>70%).The minimum lumen diameter(MLD), minimum lumen area (MLA), plaque burden (PB) obtained from IVUS and QCA was compared to assess their accuracy in detection of artery stenosis and plaque characteristics.
