Clinical characteristic and precaution of Pulmonary embolism surrounding cardiac intervention
Background The incidence rate of pulmonary embolism (PE) is not low surrounding cardiac interventions.This study discussed the reasons, clinical characteristics and precaution measurements of PE surrounding the cardiac interventions.Methods The reasons, clinical characteristics, chemical examination and auxiliary examination were analyzed in 35patients with PE surrounding cardiac interventions.Results The reasons included advanced age (65.7％), longer time (＞24 hours) of lying in bed (77.1％).The main clinical characteristics were chest distress (82.9％), breathlessness, chest pain, cough, palpitation and so on.The higher levels of serum D-dimer and hypoxexia were helpful to diagnose PE.The cardiac ultrasound showed right ventricular enlargement in 60％ patients and pulmonary hypertension in 51.4％.PE could be diagnosed accurately by contrast-enhanced computer tomography (CT).But negative result of CT could not exclude PE.Conclusions PE should be suspected if patients had chest distress and breathlessness, and the relative chemical examinations and auxiliary examinations ought to be taken to make the diagnosis.Precaution measurements should be done carefully surrounding cardiac interventions to decrease the incidence of PE.
