Mechanisms of cardioprotection of mitochondrial KATP channel opener through inhibiting the opening of mitochondrial permeability transition pore
Background We hypothesized that mitoKATP channel activation might protect the cardiomyocytes by inhibiting the opening of mitochondrial permeability transition pore (MPTP) through modulating intracellular calcium homeostasis and preventing mitochondrial dysfunction during early reoxygenation.
