Regional climatic features and geographical distribution pattern of medicinal plants based on Geographic Information System: Hubei region as an example
This paper aimed to study the regional climatic characteristics and the geographical distribution pattern of medical plants based on Geographic Information System, and made clear display of the spatial feature for the climatic and the medical plants in certain region.Based on the meteorological data and the reclassify function of ArcGIS, the study region (Huibei) was divided into different climate zones.Meanwhile, the species richness of each zone was calculated, and the regression curve was obtained between the climatic factors and the species richness in each zone.The temperature of the eastern was considerably higher than that of the western; compared with the southeast, the annual precipitation in the northwest was higher; the sunshine duration trended to increase from the southwest to the northeast; the relative air humidity increased from the northern to the southern.Meanwhile the medicinal species richness of southwest area was the highest, and the richness of regional medicinal plants was highly correlated with the altitude and annual temperature.The study region had three most characteristic regions: Shennongjia and Wudang Mountain zone, Enshi zone and Dabie Mountains zone.
