Barriers faced by female substance abusers in their rehabilitation and reintegration process: Qualitative study
Substance use disorders belong to the category of externalizing behavior that in term of gender prevalence are generally more common among men than women.Although gender gap is divergent across the countries suggesting a social and cultural influence that can be explored.Beside of the reduce number of women with substance abuse disorders compared with man, it” s a significant reality that can”t be ignored.It”s relevant reflect around some specificities, such as social stigma, gender difference and analyze main barriers and obstacles which impede women to get help and entry into treatment and return to society.In this paper ARTM (澳门戒毒复康协会) tries to reflect around these themes and through the qualitative data collected from interviews with female substance abusers from ARTM” s Female Treatment Center (or in a stabilized situation), highlight strategies to implement with women.
