BEHAVIOUR AND PERSISTENCE OF FLUMETRALIN IN SOIL AND TOBACCO

  Dissipation of flumetralin in various soils under controlled conditions; and residues in tobacco leaves and soil following application in a field trial was investigated using gas chromatography.Soil properties had a major influence, with flumetralin dissipation directly correlated with soil organic matter content.The degradation of flumetralin in soil was also dependent on the others environmental factors, such as soil moisture, temperature, microorganism, initial concentration.Field persistence of flumetralin showed that its half-lives were 4.3 d in green tobacco leaves and 7.6 d in soil.Risk assessment revealed that no significant potential health risk would be induced by flumetralin in tobacco.
