”Globalisation, Corporate Social Responsibility, and the Legal Profession-Implications for Corporate Governance, Sustainable Investment, and Business and Human Rights”

Overview This paper explores key dimensions of contemporary corporate social responsibility (CSR) of relevance to Sino-Australian legal education and research. In doing so, it positions CSR within the landscape of 21st century systems of global governance, regulation, and responsibility. It connects CSR to the contemporary concerns and manifestations of corporate governance and sustainability. It outlines the different ways in which CSR now matters for the legal profession worldwide. It also explores the multiple CSR responsibilities and roles of lawyers across different arms of the global legal profession. Finally, it locates CSR within an integrated approach to corporate governance management and compliance, in which business respect for human rights as an aspect of CSR is itself an aspect of contemporary corporate governance, responsibility, and sustainability.
