Epithelial to mesenchymal transition in hepatic fibrosis
Hepatic regeneration and repair are dominant outcomes of liver injuries.Successful repair(i.e.,regeneration) results in replacement of dead epithelial cells with healthy epithelial cells, and reconstructs normal hepatic structure and function. The effective way of preventing the development of liver cancer is control and even reverse liver fibrosis.Epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT),which is a hotspot in reserch, is supposed to be an inflammation induced response which may take a central role in liver fibrosis.Numberous studies have been done in recent years. The aim of this review is to summerize the evidence between epithelial to mesenchymal transition and liver fibrosis.
