The damage mechanism of curved multi-axial warp-knitted composites under low-velocity impact
A kind of novel curved composites with multi-axial warp-knitted reinforcing structure was prepared.The low-velocity impact behavior of the composites was implemented in INSTRON Dynatup.Specimens of three different radiuses of curvatures were tested.The damage mechanism was analysis through load-time curves and the photography images.Several types of failure modes, including deformation of the composites, fracture of preforms, crack of resin and interlay delamination of the composites were discussed.The results showed that the impact damages of the specimens in three different radiuses of curvatures did not exhibit the linear relation with the progressive increase or decrease of curvature.Besides, the multi-axial warp-knitted structure gave certain contribution to narrowing the damage scale.
