A special EEG pattern helping diagnose antibody-positive encephalitis
Objective To investigate the presence of a special pattern of Electroencephalography (EEG), in patients with encephalitis and explore the related features of the special and uncommon pattern.Method EEG monitoring was performed to every patient over 15 years-old with encephalitis hospitalized in Xuanwu Hospital of Beijing in China between December, 2011 and March, 2014.Clinical characteristics and EEG recordings including background rhythm, slow activity, beta activity, spike discharges and EBB (extreme beta brush: beta activity overlapping above theta or delta activity) were collected and evaluated.T-test or chi-square test was used to compare the data of two groups of patients with and without EBB.
