Combustion behavior of flame retardant silicone rubber/Mg(OH)2/Al(OH)3/melamine phosphate composites
Flame retardant rubber composites were manufactured based on Mg(OH)2, Al(OH)a and melamine phosphate (MP).The heat release rate, smoke production rate and total heat release of flame retardant rubber composites were studied using cone calorimeter at 35kW/m2, combining with limiting oxygen index and UL94 test. The thermal degradation behaviors of the flame retardant system were analyzed by thermal gravimetric analysis (TG).And the residue char layer morphology was investigated by scanning electron(SEM).The effect of different proportion of the flame retardants on the mechanical properties of silicone rubber composites was explored. It was found that a good synergistic flame retardant effect, among Mg(OH)2, Al(OH)3 and MP in the composites. It can get the good thermal stability and smoke suppression when Mg(OH)2/Al(OH)3/MP at the ratio of 12:18:30.
