Ecofeminism: ”Maternal” Ecologism and ”Ecological” Feminism
Ecofeminism is the combination of eco-movement and feminist movement.Based on the ecofeminist morpheme-”eco-” and ”femin-”, this essay analyzes the ”ecological character” and ”maternal traits” of ecofeminism: Firstly, the theoretical starting point of the ecofeminism is the analogy between human -nature relations and the male to female relations, on the basis this essay analyzes the two layers of meanings of ”eco-” in ecofeminism: On the one hand, ecofeminism concerns about eco-environmental problems.It is beyond the traditional feminism which only concerns about gender relations;furthermore, it pays attention to the relationship between the interpersonal relationship and the relations between human and nature;On the other hand, Ecofeminism has many branches of theory and in itself is an ecological system which involves theory and practice.Secondly, this paper shows its uniqueness and inclusiveness relative to other environmental ethics through elucidating the ”maternal traits” of ecofeminist.On the bases, the article presents that ecofeminism is a system of ecological harmony and appears as the development of self-organization.It can develop along with the change of spatial and temporal context, and has inner vitality.
