1 Introduction 1.1 Development and Scales of Chinese seawater desalination Research of Seawater desalination technology in China started in the 50th last century. In the beginning, electrodialysis seems to be the most potential technology, and then, reverse osmosis (RO) and multiple-effect evaporation technology became the mainstream technology in China.
