Study on Methods to Evaluate Hydrodynamic Performance of Low-Aspect-Ratio Hydrofoil at Large Incidence
In order to improve the precision of low-aspect-ratio hydrofoil”s hydrodynamic performance evaluated by CFD numerical method at high incidence,simulations of a rectangle NACA0018 hydrofoil are carried out.The simulations based on different Re and computation grids are compared with test results using URANS and DES methods.It is shown that: The selection of calculation methods and turbulence models has great influence on the accuracy and it is also related to Re.For the condition of Re<106,the results calculated by URANS method especially RNG k -ε turbulence modelare close to test results.When the Re number is larger than 106,through DES method an agreement result can be received compared with the experimental data.Wall Y-plus has an important influence on the results,the calculation accuracy can be improved through increase grid”s quantity with y+~1.When the hydrofoil stalls,the vortex structures simulated by DES method agree well with physical phenomenon.
