Using Magnetic Coupling to Improve the Bandwidth and Phase Margin of Boost Converters
A novel technique that significantly improves the dynamic behavior of conventional boost converter(CBC)with auxiliary branch has been proposed and the small-signal modeling of proposed converter has been derived and analyzed.The auxiliary branch including a capacitor,a diode and an inductor which coupling with the main input inductor of the CBC.The proposed converter is able to eliminate the righthalf-plane(RHP)zero of the CBC.Meanwhile,the phase margin of the proposed converter increased significantly compared to the CBC.The application of these techniques will allow the design of high efficiency boost-based regulators with dynamic behavior similar to that of buck-derived structures.
