A Case Study of Teachers” Perceptions of Using iPad in English Learning in Hong Kong
This article reports on a pilot scheme in which students used tablets to learn through the app provided by the textbook publisher.The teachers also made use of different channels to conduct their teaching (e.g.the app / i-Pad / PowerPoint / Chrome).Participants were Primary Four English learners and teachers at a subsidized school in Hong Kong.The app and the tablets used provided an interactive medium for students to learn two textbook chapters collaboratively as well as engaging students and teachers in trying out the integration of e-learning in the English curriculum via the app/ i-Pad/ PowerPoint/ Chrome.Through classroom observation and interviews,the study reveals the advantages of the pilot scheme,perceptions and the changes in attitude for teachers.Discussions are also included for further implications of the e-learning.
