辛亥革命:期望与目标
A story is told that during a dinner given by the late Chinese leader Zhou Enlai in honour of Henry Kissinger, the conversation turned to the topic of revolutions.Kissinger at one point asked Zhou what his thoughts were on the significance and impact of the French Revolution. After thinking about the question for a moment, Zhou replied: It is too early to tell! The French Revolution took place more than 200 years ago.The Chinese Revolution of 1911 has a history of only 100 years! I hope Zhou will pardon us as we seek to better understand the world and times in which we live in and how past events and issues affect our lives today, however imperfect our understanding maybe. We should be also conscious of the fact that while it may take an extended period to measure the impact of a revolution, it is equally vital to recognize that the rising forces of change do not occur ovemight and their impact can be continuous.
