Literature on Nature and Effects of Chrysanthemum Sa-dang Korean Medical Clinic
Chrysanthemum(菊花), which can be a symbol of the sun or Eum-qi(陰氣) of the moon, is known as an oriental flower.This research studies how this flower has been understood and what medical effects it has, based on the literature.And, in the process of this study, as the character of Chrysanthemum is apprehended from the viewpoint of Sasang constitutional medicine, the academic basis can be set for cultivating and applying this flower.As a result of the summarizing the literature, the conclusions are followed as below; Firstly, depending on the point of view, Chrysanthemum has both Yang-qi and Eum-qi.In Sasang constitutional medicion, this flower can be used for Tae-eumin, whose healthy energy is Exhale-dispersing Qi, applied for Cheongshimyeonja-tang(淸心莲子湯) as a medication.Secondly, Chrysanthemum means hermitage, representing the spirit of a scholar and escaping danger, from which alcoholic drink is made on Junggu-il(the ninth day of ninth month of the lunar calendar).Thirdly, as the symbol of clear soul Chrysanthemum expels the malice(邪氣), implying perpetual youth and longevity.Therefore, it can be practiced for the aftereffects of the night”s drink and insomnia and used for a Chrysanthemum pillow and foods such as Chrysanthemum tea and a Chrysanthemum fry.
