Education,employment,unemployment,is a major issue inIndonesia.Finding skilled labor force of young generation isnot easy task.On the other hand, Indonesia currentlydemands a lot of skilled,qualified, and certified welders.Indonesian shipbuilding industry, for instance,demands atleast 1000 certified welders currently.Eventhough,vocational students is prepared ready for working,but theystill need a lot of practice in shipyards throughapprenticeship since most of vocational school curriculum isless practical work in welding workshopIt is difficult to fmd young generation welders. The situationis worsen by which labor force of young generation does notinterested in,working at hot, dirty, and dangerousenvironment where weldersnormally there, as well as only afew of vocational schools whichrun welding as a majorsubject.Moreover,welding educationare very expensive.This paper discusses preparing young generationweldersthrough apprenticeship as mentioned aboveparagraph,as well as welding training curriculumis presented.To meet the needs of lack young generation welders,especially in shipbuilding industry, Indonesian Governmentmust play an important role to address this issue.
