Balloon Dilatation Therapy Used For Middle Cerebral Artery Dissection (MCAD): a Case Report

　　Background and Purpose—Until now, there is still no report on the usage of balloon dilation therapy for treating intractable MCAD.Here, we report a new therapeutic strategy that can be rationally chosen by clinical doctors.Summary of Case—A 42-year-old, right-handed man with a history of infarction on the right side of brain was admitted to our department because of episodic stereotype left hemiparesis.Diagnostic cerebral angiography revealed right MCAD.The patient received the right MCA balloon dilatation therapy successfully.He had been followed up continuously for 6 months without any further ischemic episode.Conclusion—Balloon dilatation therapy is a new and alterbative way for treating MCAD.
