Case Study of AC Interference on 20 km Buried Pipeline:Field Test and Mitigation Design
AC interference on pipelines caused by nearby HVAC power lines can lead to electric shock hazard and AC corrosion. It threatens the safety of pipe operators as well as pipelines. The pipeline from Jiaozhou to Jiaoxi is close to many HVAC power lines and suffers serious AC interference (the highest voltage can reach 40 V).A case study has been conducted to design and optimize mitigation measure with the help of computer simulation. In this paper, the methods to test AC voltage in field and to survey relative locations were introduced in detail. And then, computer model was established based on the collected information. In order to make the model meeting field test result, the model was adjusted. The result showed that the final model was well accorded with field test result.3 types of grounding beds were discussed. The mitigation schemes, which can decrease AC interference voltage under 10 V, were got.The results indicated that 650 m Zn ribbons or 6 deep wells or 10 grounding grips can reach the mitigation target
