The Preservation of Chinese Cattle genetic Resource in National Genebank

　　As the important biological resource, livestock genetic resource is the fundamental part of the biology diversity and maintains the stability of the ecology system.There are many cattle breeds with excellent features in China such as high fecundity and disease resistance, and some are disappearing gradually.Therefore, it is necessary to protect these genetic resources.Using the Ex situ in vitro conservation method, National Center for Preservation and Utilization of Genetic Resources of Domestic Animals (NCPUGR) had collected the 83.333 frozen semen and 1,906 embryos of 22 Chinese indigenous cattle breed until 2012.In addition, we also had analyzed the genetic diversity and origin of 50 Chinese Yellow Cattle breeds by using 30 microsatellite markers.Our results would help to preserve and utilize these genetic resources in the future, even reconstruct the endangered population.
