The Polymorphisms of SIRT2 Gene and Their Association with Body Measurement and Ultrasound traits of Qinchuan Cattle

SIRT2 (silent information regulator 2) is a member of the Sirtuin family class Ⅲ NAD (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide)-dependent protein deacetylases and has an important role on senescence, metabolism and apoptosis. The objectives of this study were to detect bovine SIRT2 gene polymorphisms and analyze the relationship with meat quality and body measurement traits in Qinchuan cattle.Altogether, four SNPs in the 4 intron, 4 exon, 9 exon and 12 exon of SIRT2 gene were identified by sequencing in 520 Qinchuan cattle.Association analysis showed that these four mutations were significantly correlated with body measurement and meat quality traits. When in combination, the H1H1 (AA-CC-GG-CC) diplotypes had better performance than other combinations. These results provided evidence that SIRT2 gene could be a candidate for marker-assisted selection in Qinchuan cattle breeding program, and that SIRT2 might be involved in the regulation of cattle growth and meat quality.
