Study on Mussel-inspired Chemical Deposition of Silver and Copper Graphics on the Surface of Polyimide Film for FPC
In this paper, dopamine and L-dopamine are used to fulfill chemical deposition of silver on the surface of polyimide(PI).The surface of polyimide can obtain adhering, hydrophilic, and coarse properties by DA or L-dopa polymerization. It is found that the hydrophilicity of film make stronger and the roughness of film become larger after mofication.Moveover, P(L-dopa) film has better hydrophilicity and PDA film has larger roughness. The PI film modified by PDA or P(L-dopa) can also meet printing requirement for FPC.At the same time, dopamine and L-dopamine can be used to make PI fullfill silver deposition instead of the traditional complex ways. The silver partical is spherical and nano-scale.Moreover, the silver layer is easily obtained under alkaline conditions. Then the copper layer and graphics ”HIT” have been obtained with the help of the PDA-Ag ink as the catalytic layer. This study will lay the foundation for the next step for in situ inkjet printing the conductive silver or copper circuit on the surface of the polyimide film.
