Superficial cervicovaginal myofibroblastoma: report of two cases with literature review
We report two cases of cervicovaginal myofibroblastomas(SCVM).Case 1 and 2 were a 45-year-old and 48-year-old women, both cases were asymptomatic and were found involving the vagina during a physical examination.Histologically, both of the cases showed similar features. The lesion were well circumscribed but unencapsulated, and a distinct zoning phenomenon was detected. The tumour cells arranged in a variety of architectural patterns. The bland spindle or stellate cells exhibited no cytological atypia, mitotic activity and necrosis.Immunohistochemically, both tumours showed expression of vimentin, desmin, estrogen receptor(ER),progesterone receptor (PR) and CD34.Ultrastructural studies have shown that tumour cells contain rough endoplasmic reticulum, mitochondria and thin filaments.SCVM are rare benigh mesenchymal tumor that occurred in the lower female tract, other mesenchymal lesions which occur in this area should be considered in the differential diagnosis.
