Torsional Vibration and Acoustic Noise Analysis of a Compound Planetary Power-split Hybrid Electric Vehicle

Theoretical and experimental analyses of torsional vibrations and acoustic noise for a deep Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) driveline including an electric continuously variable transmission are carried out.The dynamic and mathematical models of 16 degrees of freedom in matrix form are developed for torsional vibration characteristics of the hybrid driveline. In the other hand, noise sources of the HEV powertrain excited in pure electric and hybrid drive modes are tested and measured by acoustic, speed and acceleration sensors.Noise orders and frequency domain responses are constructed by signal treatment and torsional vibration analysis.Theoretical predictions for natural frequencies and corresponding vibration modes of the hybrid driveline are presented. The noise test results are also given in accordance with torsional vibration modes of the hybrid driveline in pure electric mode and hybrid drive modes.Noise sources due to self-exited and frequency multiplied vibrations are found focusing to the compound planetary gear set in the power-split electric continuously variable transmission.
