Equilibrium and Thermodynamic Studies on the Adsorption of Malathion in Honey Using Macroporous Resins
The sorption of the macroporous resins (LS-901, LS-803 and LS-200) on malathion is investigated under different conditions using static adsorption method. The adsorption is carried out at 298.15, 308.15, and 318.15K, respectively. The maximum adsorption capabilities are 97.67%, 93.42% and 95.98% on LS-901, LS-803 and LS-200, respectively. The adsorption data are better fitted to Freundlich isotherm model (R>0.95) and the isotherm constants have been calculated.Various thermodynamic parameters, such as adsorption enthalpy, adsorption gibbs free energy and adsorption entropy, are calculated, and their negative values indicate feasible, spontaneous, exothermic natures of the process. The treated honey can be used as feed additive or biomass energy. Therefore, it may be a promising way to reutilize organophosphorus pesticides contaminated honey.
