High-frequency induction hardening process and microstructure and properties of cam slot
Heat treatment process of high-frequency induction hardening of columned cam slots with complex curved-surface was studied. It could be found that the columned slot made of steel 45 or steel ZG65Mn treated by an rational high-frequency induction hardening process meet the technical requirements of 2 ~ 5 mm hardening depth and 50~60 HRC surface hardness.Microstructure of the hardening layer was tempered martensite and a small amount of retained austenite. In the process of high-frequency induction hardening, larger distortions of slot were effectively avoided by quick water-spray cooling.
