Kinetic study of the thermal polymerization reactions between diazide and different diynes

The reaction kinetics between dipropargyl biphenol A and 4,4 -biphenyl dibenzyl azide,1,3-diethynylbenzene and 4,4 -biphenyl dibenzyl azide were studied in this paper by means of Differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) and 1H-NMR.DSC was carried out to characterize the reactions in bulk polymerization condition. The apparent activation energies(E ) calculated by Kissinger s method were 77.96kJ/mol,81.24 kJ/mol for dipropargyl biphenol A/4,4 -biphenyl dibenzyl azide and 1,3-diethynylbenzene/4,4 -biphenyl dibenzyl azide respectively, which were confirmed by differential isoconversional method and the reaction orders were near to one.1H-NMR was employed to analyze the solution reaction polymerization, the calculated E were 65.45kJ/mol,69.36kJ/mol for dipropargyl biphenol A/4,4 -biphenyl dibenzyl azide and 1,3-diethynylbenzene/4,4 -biphenyl dibenzyl azide respectively, the reaction orders were near to one as well. The results show that reaction between dipropargyl biphenol A and 4,4 -biphenyl dibenzyl azide was easier than that between 1,3-diethynylbenzene and 4,4 -biphenyl dibenzyl azide. It proved that the reactivity was related to the structure of monomers.
