Effect of Heat Treatment on Microstructure and MechanicalProperties of SiCp/2024 Aluminum Matrix Composite
SiCp/2024 composite was produced by powder metallurgy process.The microstructure and mechanical properties of the composite were investigated by means of SEM,EDS,tensile testing and hardness testing respectively.The results show that the tensile strength and hardness are improved significantly after Heat treatment.With the increase of Heat treatment temperature,the second phases<br> 2Cu) dissolved in matrix gradually.When the Heat treatment temperature arrived at 505 ,the second phases dissolved thoroughly.The composite exhibited higher tensile strength and hardness at the same time.The effect of artificial aging was slightly better than natural failure at the same solid solution temperature.
