Collecting China in Russian and other Eastern European Languages at the University of California, Berkeley
The rapid rise of China and her sustained economic growth serves as an example of the long term vision of the government and the long history of the Chinese civilization.As the collection development librarian for Russian,Eastern European,and Central Asian Studies,I have been working on developing our collections of print and electronic resources in Russian and other Eastern European languages dealing with China and Chinese Studies.Since my arrival at UC Berkeley from Princeton University,I have been actively collaborating and consulting with Chinese Studies librarian Jianye He,and the director of the East Asian Library,Dr.Peter Zhou to develop strategies that will allow UC Berkeley to further evolve the collections of China and Chinese Studies materials and strengthen the collaboration.
