Orchard farming management based on WebGIS and wireless sensors network
A ZigBee WSN (Wireless Sensors Network) was established to collect growing and environmental data from each tree in the apple orchard.A PDA was customized by integrating ZigBee coordinator module,GPRS module,GPS OEM module and RFID module.And An embedded orchard farming information application including five modules which are GPS management,Orchard boundary obtaining,Map management,Orchard data collecting and Uploading and downloading was developed to collect the data from the wireless sensors network,acquire GPS data of each tree,read the RFID card which is mounted on each tree and upload all the collected data to the server via GPRS.An orchard farming service system with a WebGIS module based on the MapXtreme component was developed.The WebGIS module includes four sub modules which are Map management,Data communication,Data management and Data processing.Based on WebGIS,the orchard GIS data can be browsed,queried,processed,calculated and visualized by using the client browser without installing any extra software.The system test run showed that the system is robust,reliable and operable,and it can provide convenient and quick services for fixed and mobile terminals to achieve remote orchard farming management.
