A Study on Embedded F-SIR Type Transmission Line in IC Chip for Negative Group Delay
Negative group delay characteristics can be used to improve signal-integrity performance such as equalizer for compensation of the group delay of transmission line (TL).This paper newly proposed the embedded Folded-Stepped Impedance Resonator (F-SIR) structure with compact open-stub resonator, in order to establish a method for designing negative group delay and slope characteristics.The concept of the proposed TL is based on the combination of resonance due to F-SIR and anti-resonance due to open-stub resonator in order to establish wideband negative group delay and negative slope characteristics.Firstly, the proposed TL is fabricated on PCB, and then the concept is validated by measurement and simulation.Finally, the possibility of negative group delay characteristic in IC is demonstrated experimentally.
