Simulation of Current Oscillation in HVDC MRTB
The simulation based on magneto-hydrodynamics (MHD) theory and on K-epsilon turbulence model has been solved for current oscillation in high voltage direct current metallic return transfer breaker (HVDC MRTB).The calculated results give good agreement with experimental results, which are obtained on a MRTB prototype designed to break about 5 kA of DC current.It has been found that the turbulence parameters of the K-epsilon model have a significant influence on the oscillation process.
