Influence of Surrounding Gases on Thermodynamic and Transport Properties of Arc Plasma Occurring between Ag contacts
For break arcs occurring between Ag contacts in nitrogen atmosphere, calculations of the thermodynamic and transport properties (electrical conductivity, viscosity, and specific heat at constant pressure) are performed. The calculation results are compared with our previous calculation results of the thermodynamic and transport properties for air, argon, and hydrogen atmosphere. The influence of the surrounding gases on the thermodynamic and transport properties is investigated. The following results are obtained. The electrical conductivity is independent of the surrounding gases. The temperature dependences of the viscosity and the specific heat at constant pressure are dependent on the dissociation and/or ionization voltages of the particles of surrounding gases. The value of the specific heat at constant pressure is dependent on the mass of the particles of surrounding gases.
