Simulation and Research of Rail”s Eddy Current Effect in High Speed Detection

In high-speed MFL detection application, the existence of speed effect causes the distortion of signals detected.According to the basic principle of speed effect in MFL detection, eddy current induced by speed is the direct factor in influencing the MFL signals, and the amplitudes are in positive proportion to speed and magnetic field intensity.Based on high-speed MFL detection method, in this paper, we built two high-speed detection models to simulate the rail defect detection at different speeds. Then we compare the waveforms of signals detected by two models at different speeds, and further analyze the influences of eddy effect on detection signals in the two models. In addition, the paper lays a foundation for future research to eliminate or utilize the eddy current in rail defect detection.
