The acute toxicity study of Anthriscus extracts in mice

Objective To discuss the acute toxicity of different Anthriscus extractions to mice. Methods The body weight of 18 ~ 22g of clean grade mice were 30 male and female, were randomly divided into treatment group and control group, fasting can not help but waterl2h.The lg/ml of Anthriscus decoction and 5g/ml of Anthriscus petroleum ether extraction were respectively used to gavage to mice at the amount of the maximum volume (0.5ml/20g body weight) which is the mice can withstand once. After dosing let the mice freely eat and drink. The control group was given the same amount of distilled water. Then observing continuously for 7d and reporting toxic performance of mice and the number of deaths, If the number of deaths > 30%, median lethal dose (LD50) should be determined; if not enough to cause death, the maximum tolerated dose (MTD) should be determined. Results: in the acute toxic experiment of Anthriscus decoction and Anthriscus petroleum ether decoction, through pre-experiment, the median lethal dose is not determined; through the maximum tolerated dose, the 200 times and 1000 times of the maximum tolerated dose in mice was determined. Conclusion: Anthriscus decoction and Anthriscus petroleum ether extraction are oral safe. And it is consistent with the records in traditional Chinese medicine.
