Review on safety of traditional Chinese medicine cosmetics and relevant toxicity studies of cosmetic ingredients

　　Traditional Chinese medicine cosmetics has become more popular with the development of TCM and biochemistry technology.Meanwhile, there have been increasing concerns about safety and potential toxicity of the Chinese materia medica (CMM).The potential toxicity of many CMM is well recognised in TCM and to reduce risks use of some herbs is restricted in China.Moreover, foreign scholars had in-depth study of quality standards and quality control of traditional Chinese medicine cosmetics.The present review an update on the safety and relevant toxicity studies of traditional Chinese medicine cosmetics.
