Analysis of Danshen Preparations
Objective: To study the reason that caused the difference of Danshen-containing preparations.Methods: Five typical preparations were self-made by the procedures listed in ChP 2010 or State formulary.These samples were analyzed and compared with Danshen herb and Danshen-containing products by HPLC.Hydrolytic experiment was done to simulate the profile of Compound Danshen dropping pills (CDDP).Results: The profiles of Danshen aqueous solution heated at 90℃ for 1-2 days were very similar with that of Compound Danshen dropping pills.Compound Danshen dropping pills, Danshen injection (DI) and Danshen for injection (DFI) contain mainly the hydrolysate of aqueous extract.The hydrolysis could not be avoided because of their preparation forms, which need long-time heating during the preparation processes.Conclusion: The composition of Danshen preparations could be classified into 3 parts: aqueous extract, hydrolysate of aqueous extract and iipophilic tanshinones.The method preparing these 3 parts are proposed by our research.Since these Danshen preparations played an important role in the treatment of cardiovascular disease, further researches are needed to study the pharmacological activities of these 3 parts in order to evaluate what process or preparation is more reasonable.
