Antiproliferative Activity of Ethanolic Extract from Dryopteris Fragrans (L.) Schott on PC-3M Cells
Recently, the mortality rates of prostate cancer in Asian countries are rising steadily.Dryopteris fragrans (L.) schott has been safely used for years as a folk remedy in No,heast China (Chinese name: Xiang-Lin-Mao-Jue).In this study, antiproliferative activity of ethanolic extract from D.fragrans was investi gated for the first time.Through the results of MTT test, clone formation assay and morphological observa tion, a short-term or long-term growth inhibition was significantly increased in a time-and dose-dependent manner with cell shrinkage and cytoplasm vacuolization.Further cell cycle distribution analysis indicated that the antiproliferative activity of ethanolic extract from D.fragrans was related to inhibition of G1 to S phase and G2phase transition during mitosis on human prostate cancer PC-3M cells.
