Clay mineral assemblages of terrestrial records (Xining Basin, China) during the Eocene-Oligocene climate Transition (EOT) and its environmental implications
The global climate cooling, from ”greenhouse” to ”icehouse”, during Eocene-Oligocene Transition (EOT) is one of the great events during Cenozoic climate deterioration (Zachos et al., 2001; Lear et al., 2008).It was accompanied by the expansion of ice sheets on the Antarctic continent (Coxall et al., 2005), a declining of atmospheric CO2 Concentration (Pearson et al., 2009), a global sea-level drop (Katz et al., 2008), and a biotic reorganization (Hansen et al., 2004).
