Theoretical Models for Characterizing the Relationship between Cited Publications and Three Underling Informetric Quantities
Scientific publications with one or more citations, theoretically and institutively, denote that these publications already have academic impact or contribution to their target scientific disciplines. In this work, based on the framework of Lotkaian informetrics,we introduce three mathematical models for characterizing the theoretic relationship between the number of cited publications and three other underling informetric quantities: h-index,the total citations and the total publications. The empirical study of 117,398 articles in chemistry published by 103 countries/territories reveals that, the three models approximately fit the actual data.
