Flow characteristic of the novel metallurgical reactor driven by the molten iron”s gravity potential energy

  The jet - flow of molten iron from the blast furnace has a certain initial kinetic energy and the tapping channel has a degree of slope.The innovative metallurgical reactor by using the gravitational potential energy of the molten iron was proposed,which can stir the molten iron and desulfurization.On the base of turbulent model and multiphase flow model,the fluid flow,The trajectory of particles and the free - surface shape with VOF model in metallurgical reactor was numerically simulated,which was verified by the water model.The results show us that the better swirling flow is formed in the bowl shape reactor.The curves of residence time distribution ( RTD) obtained from experiment is in accord with the simulated results.The effect of swirling flow in bowl - shape reactor is greater than the others,which produce the more intensity and stable swirling flow.The particles comes into the reactor in a spiral way.When the particles met the outlet,it will flow out.Otherwise,it will go on to flow in a small spiral way with the iron.Finally,it will run out of the reactor.
